How to (hypothetically) kill a neighbours tree

Not that I would, but since I do dream of doing such a thing, our neighbours tree is the size of a house (literally) and is on the boundary. We have cut it back to the boundary but it still blocks all our afternoon and evening sun. The neighbour is a bell-end so no chance of him removing the tree, or at least giving it a sensible prune (its an Acer which would look really nice if it was half the size).

Now obviously I would never vandalise someone's tree, so time for some fantasy! If you had the same neighbours tree, how would you kill the tree. A copper-nail gun would be a funny way to do it.

DISCUSS!

I know someone who did this with a leylandii hedge that was left to grow out of control for years in a neighbouring council house garden. They dug down, cut the roots and put them into bags of ridiculously strong weed killer.

The roots absorbed the stuff, the hedges died and then the council finally they decided to get rid of them. Could be an option :D

I'd dress up like Ash from Evil Dead, fire a couple of rounds out of the boomstick to get the neighbour's attention, point at the tree and scream "Yo she-****, let's go". Then set on the tree with the chainsaw.

Once the evil tree is vanquished I'd sidle up to the neighbour's wife and say "give me some sugar baby."

Actually, this gives me a good business idea...

Would you even need the weed killer? If the tree wasn't one with a deep roots system chopping the main roots off on your side would mean the next storm would probably lay the tree over into their garden... ;)

Kill it with fire! Hypothetically of course!

I have a similar issue with some trees that back onto my property that are on the councils land that blocks a load of sun out. My fence is quite low so quite a bit was overhanging my garden and due to my inexperience with a chainsaw managed to cut a few extra branches off somehow. Definitely think I need some more practice which is fortunate as there are some more that hang over further down...

Theoretically if there was a 1/2" hole in tree drilled down at a sharp angle and you found one you could use a brushwood killer squirted down hole - if you found two holes that would be even better.

We just need an invasive beetle to drill one.

There was a huge pine tree next door which overhung our greenhouse so asked if I paid can I get it cut down - They said yes thankfully.

I wouldn't kill it,i like things to grow

plus its on his side so all you can do is trim the overhanging parts

Your posts doesn't suggest that you've actually asked him so maybe that's worth a go first before taking drastic action. It is annoying though so share you anger and frustration.

If you want to hypothetically kill it, drill in to the root, and pour diesel into it.

Job done

Yep, diesel, if you expose the roots and pour a load around them it often works too.
However, it is supposed to be somewhat windy over the next few days, pull it down and blame the weather?
