How to Improve OCUK?

Thing is though unlike a few of their rivals OcUK are a bit too specialised for it to be worth trying to sell usb chillers and whatsort. I doubt things like the caps, t shirts or burger cd thing move at all.

It would be good if OCuK would do build videos. Whether they're staff, company or willing customers videos. I know there's sometimes pictorials. But videos would be good. And it would also be interesting to see them overclocking in videos and going into detail about how they do it, etcetera.

+1

Actually 1 thing which would be a great addition to OcUK is a points system for people who shop at the store a lot.

For things you buy of a certain value you get points in accordance to how pricey the item is, these points can be exchanged for things from OcUK on selected goods, things like games, controls for consoles, certain software etc. So the people who spend a lot of money at the store get rewards for being customers and not only that, new customers feel more obligated to come back shopping here to get more points and thus get free gifts in the future. So not only do customers benefit from the promotion, OcUK does as well.

Bt it wouldn't be "free gifts" such a system would mean that prices across the board would have to go up to compensate.

I'd rather pay less and not get some silly points.

Not exactly, with graphics cards at times you get a free game or 2 as part of the promotion anyway, like Mafia II now with certain cards. They'll still be making profit charging the same prices as now but customers feel more obligated to spend money at 1 place in order to get points to exchange for stuff. It's not as if the games would be free after paying £100, it'll be like £300+ by which time they've already made a lot more profit from you than the cost of a game, but it rewards the customers who continue to come back.

Lots of sites have a reward based system and their prices are the same as anywhere else, when people have a certain amount of things to buy then they get something free, they'd rather get it from here than say another site which is maybe only £1-5 cheaper.

I don't think anything needs changing except the update trust thing.

The shop and forum as a whole are running superbly, why change it ?

Ocuk have suck low prices already, why would they wanna give away free stuff and make less profit ?

No that's done by the hardware supplier not by ocuk.

I know, but the amount of profit still far outweighs the cost of a game code. It'll be something like say buy a system like this: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-237-OK and you'd have enough points for a game, not only do new customers think "Oh that's a decent system" but also "Oh, and I get a free game to play on my new PC too", and giving a great first impression to a customer ensures they will come back and spend more, in turn OcUK get more profit from more returning customers, and though they're giving out free promotion items they're making more money.

I dunno, maybe I shouldn't start a company, I'd probably bankrupt in a month :D

So you'll know those deals cost ocuk nothing.

Depends how much ocuk gets games for and how much profit it makes on it;s products, if it costs £5-10 for a game but they make £30-50 profit on a £300 card for example that's a big whack to miss out on.

Free stuff pretty much always = higher prices for everyone.

You're assuming ocuk gets very little repeat custom or that people are very easily swayed.

To expand on my earlier mention; NCIX have a very good video vidcast I'm sure many of you probably already watch on youtube. Linus Tech Tips being a spin off. I'd like to see something similar from OCUK. It'd be great to get one of the guys working in OCUK to get on a video blog discussing new products and why they put the products they do into their custom machines as well as the overclocking tips and tricks I mentioned earlier. I know that OCUK just expanded out onto Facebook, but I think moving into the youtube realm would have been better.

Can with have an OCUK themed Big Brother?

Set up a few cameras in the HQ, and we vote random forum members in to spend the day with the crew. :D

That's exactly what I was going to say.

Except maybe we should vote for cameras to go in forum members houses. :D

Wait, we already get free shipping as forum users, that's essentially the same end result isn't it? Money off our purchases.

My bit of input though would be to adjust the sig rules, as I think they're very out of date, nothing too different of course, as I think forums full of large sigs looks very messy, but I think with most people having broadband now, they don't have to be so stringent.
