Hi, I've made a test page for my mum's small business website but don't think it looks professional enough. It's made using joomla and my own css (which is probably rubbish I know!). I was just wondering if any of you have any comments on how to make it look better.

ps the buttons don't really work and the content is very old and just to fill the space for now.

Any help would be really appreciated.

here it is

Looks fine to me. Clean and simple. Your Mum's business is not a design house, so no point getting overtly flashy. Maybe update the banner with some images that are relevant to the business. Perhaps two people shaking hands, and the cliche smiling-with-perfect-teeth telephone operator or something in a faded gradient with colour overlay the same green as the text.

EDIT: also just occured to me, the banner above the menu would work better imo.

Looks very smart and profesional to me. Only problem is if you're running 800x600 you have to scroll horizontaly. But then very few people run that res these days, I only noticed if because Ubuntu is being a pest about my graphics card.

Know about the pojects lol, I just couldn't be bothered to change it because it's not the real site! Might try the banner above like you said.

Thanks for the replies.

Change the default link colours, the harsh blue is quite a contrast, especially the Joomla at the bottom..

Nice site, although I think the menu would look better underneath the banner myself :) And maybe "You are at:" in the location bar

edit; actually no i take it back... i think its cool how it is

I really like it. It's nice on the eyes, colors are great they suit the overall colors of the logo nicely.

I think it is very professional :)

Make a nice favicon for the site and it will be perfect :p

Agreed. Also think that the side navigation needs a little something to seperate the content with the nav bar. Otherwise nice work.
