I'm upgrading from a 3700+ to a 4600x2 and just wondered what the standard precedures are for installing a new cpu e.g. installing it and software/utilities etc to use after. The 4600x2 is used but comes with heatsink/fan retail boxed.

My mobo: A8N Sli SE

Any advice or help will be much appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply mate. I've been having a good look around on the net like you said for some guides and videos to talk me through, but it seems pretty easy. Also does Windows XP and the bios automatically recognise the new cpu and pretty much run as normal? i.e i dont have to reinstall windows or alter the bios configuration.

Thanks

I wouldnt have thought that you would need to reinstall the OS just for the CPU change.

However i believe there are a couple of programs you might need to install from the AMD website for your dual core to work as it should:

The dual core optimizer and at *** bottom of *** page, the driver.

Hope this helps, helped a mate that I built a X2 4200 system for.

Thanks for the link and the info. What about the bios though do i have to configure anything in there or is it all automatically recognised?
