How to install M.2 Heatsink

It's showing you how it's fitted. :D

Are you installing the drive on the motherboard slot? I wouldn't like to put the bottom one on if that's where it's been placed. It's metal isn't it? :)

Motherboard > SSD > Thermal Pad > Top Heatsink
Its getting fitted onto a MSI Tomahawk B450 motherboard into the M.2 slot just above GPU.

So if the bottom plate is too close or contacting motherboard then:

Top plate
White strip
Silver strip
NVME M.2
Motherboard

?

What is the difference from white and silver strips?

DO NOT connect the bottom of the heatsink then. The heatsink is metal by the looks of it. Correct me if I'm wrong but you might short circuit the motherboard if you do connect it and then put it into the M.2 slot. Make sure the system is off completely as well when you fit it, unplug the power cable from the PC to be on the safe side.

Not 100% sure if the SSD will be raised off the board fully when installing it. It might be best to try get a clear photo of it installed to see the clearance.

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong but just be careful in case that enclosure is metal.

I asked overclockers customer support.

They said its safe to have both plates on as the M.2 standoff raises it away from the motherboard.

They said put the NVME between two white strips. They said silver was only used for hard drives with nands on both side, so I am assuming this SN550 doesnt need these??

Looks smart too.. finished off motherboard very well.

Awesome! good stuff.

Only thing is she said silver is nand.. and this nvme is 3d nand so im still waiting to hear incase its 1 white 1 silver.

Thought this would have been simple.
