As title; how do I install WinXP home onto a SATA HDD without having a floppy disk to install the drivers at start up.

I have tried creating an ISO with the drivers integrated using a program called nlite however when it gets to the "loading windows" part of the installation I get a BSOD.

The motherboard is a GIGABYTE GA-7VT600 1394.

It might just be easier to go buy some floppy disks tomorrow.

Cheers!

Unless I'm going crazy, I think your getting mixed up between Sata drivers and Raid drivers.

For RAID, you needed to install the drivers via a floppy disc.

Sata drives do not need this. However you may need to make sure your BIOS is set correctly for it to install. Setting as AHCI.. or IDE.. I always forget which one it likes. Either way.. should install fine with the right setting.

OK great. There is no option to set what you are suggesting. I have looked through the BIOS a fair few times looking for it.

When I try to install windows it gets to the select drive part and tells me there is no hard drive to install from. This is why I am assuming I need to install drivers before hand. I also just assumed that because they are called SATA RAID drivers they were what I needed.

Seems I need to find SATA ACHI drivers and integrate them. Because, as said, I integrated the raid drivers.

At least I am learning from these mistakes.

So after creating 5 different windows xp install CDs with different sata drivers on I just put them all into one install and tried it. It has recognised the drive and I am now formatting to install windows. Bloody computers.
