how to install win 7 on a partioned disk for dual boot

i have tried to partition my disc for a dual boot winxp win 7 try
win 7 will not see the seperate partion what have i done wrong?

do you have XP already installed? What did you create the partition with?

thank but i got it sorted the software had not created a partition
