How to install windows with no cd/dvd

Hi got an old laptop with no cd/dvd and wont boot off a usb. I need to install a fresh install of windows xp. I have downloaded the software to go with my genuine seriel (cant put my disc in as it has no disc reader). How can i install windows xp from within windows xp??

Err, to my knowledge, you cant. Unless you can PXE network boot the computer, but if it cant boot from USB then I think that option will be missing too.
 
I'd get a 2.5' IDE- 3.5' IDE converter, yank out the hard drive and hook it up to your main pc to install windows, then move it back to the laptop- minus any activation if you are holding an OEM liscence.
 
copy a xp cd to a hhd (on a working machine).Stick a USB stick in your machine and run the batch file in the download link.

Once finished put the usb stick in the machine you want to install xp on and chenge the boot order to boot from usb.

Follow normal XP install guide.

t bird you can do a full windows 7 install from a mounted iso within your previous OS (as in a full clean install . not upgrade)

it copies and expands all the files from the disc/iso and sorts out the boot before the restart

done this today on my netbook, havent tried it with vista before though
