My motherboard is an ABIT IP35 PRO and I have recently zapped my faithful XP install to have Vista 64 running as my main OS always with the intection of reinstalling XP on a third HDD to cover 'this dont work on vista' scenarios ... as it happens I have one of those scenarios now that I can't solve with a VM - its called GTR2 
And I am having trouble installing XP!
Anyway, my disc setup is:
Onboard:
74GB Raptor on SATA1 (Vista Installation)
500 GB Seagate on SATA2 (Data ..)
Samsung DVDRW on SATA3
On the Jmicron controller:
80GB Seagate IDE
Sony DVDR IDE
I boot with the XP disk and tell it to format the 80GB drive for a new install of XP .. this goes OK and on the first reboot the pc posts and then the screen is a bit garbled with some coloured text characters distributed throughout the screen and it hangs ... wtf!! The installation process sees the drive so any ideas as to what is up here?
