On my new PC while browsing I'm getting random lockups requiring a reboot of the PC.

It happens in FireFox and Chrome, I haven't tried any others.
I've tried re-installing the browsers and running without addons but it made no improvement.

I've run memtest and that was fine.

It's an Intel Core i5 with 4gig of ram and a 5850 gpu with 750w corsair PSU.

The OS is XP Pro.

Anyone know of a way to track down the problem?

Have you tried looking at the events logged at around the time of the lockups?

The event viewer doesn't loads log on a hardlock, but worth a look.

I just checked and it's not showing any errors at the time of the crashes.

I just installed the OS and basic drivers on another drive and I'm getting the same problem that after a few minuets of browsing it locks up.

The router works fine on my old PC.

I've had problems with this Overclocked bundle ever since I had it as it usually fails on core 3 within an hour.

I've tried on stock and get the same result.

It sounds like the problem has nothing to do with browsing or browsers - the system's just plain unstable?

Does this happen when you're doing something other than browsing?

No, I've had games on for hours stressing the PC without any major problems.

I've just updated the Bios as I was getting sick of the over sized cursor and that's supposed to help fix that so I'm in the process of testing again.

It's quite hard to test as it can happen after clicking a few links or many hundred.

i had same problem with my i5, 5850, 4gb ram with 640 OCZ PSU, turned out it was the ATI driver. i used sapphire driver, problem gone :)

Check your network card drivers, the default Realtek drivers were terrible for me but updates from the Realtek site were fine.

Thanks for the advice, I'll have to take it one step at a time or I won't know what's fixed it.

Right now though it's been 20 mins of constant browsing without any problems or the large cursor but it's only at stock speed.

I did have a yellow question mark agains the realtek sound drivers which seems to have vanished since bios update.

I just wish there was a quicker way of testing it.

If everything was quicker/easier to test a lot of IT admins would have far more time on their hands!

I guess, anyway an hour of sufing endless links and all seems fine.

Now I have to learn how to overclock my overclocked bundle, what a wast of time and money that was.
