Wierd Q i know but atm i find it almost impossible to get to sleep. I havnt been to a doctor as i cba, what i want to know is: Is there a way i can make myself pass out and sleep for 8 hoursish? please no suggestions of herbal tea or warm milk! ive tryed and it doesnt work!

If it persists, make sure you go to the doctor as there could be underlying issues. However, there are generally a few tips to help:

1. Stop drinking tea/coffee/coke (anything with caffeine) by 6pm.
2. Make sure that you're getting adequate exercise so that you're not restless.
3. Get into a sleeping routine: goto bed at a certain time and stick with it.
4. Remove distractions from your bedroom such as your PC (or just turn it off) and TV.
5. Try reading a book. I found that when I was reading one on String Theory that I pretty much fell asleep every night quite easily. :p

Nytol One a Night. One of them will destroy you for around 8 hours, take it at around 8'o clock and by 10 you will be semi-conscious at best. To give you an idea of how strong they are, I take only half when I want to use one, and it more than does the job.

However they are not to be relied on, if you're having long-term trouble sleeping then go and see a doctor.

Again, it depends on how serious the 'condition' is. When my isnomnia was at its worse, sleeping tablets wouldn't even work. Instead they just sent me into a very weird (at best I can describe it as 'electric') sleep which I didn't rest in at all. Otherwise, they just made me a bit loopy.

The problem I have however, is that when I cannot sleep I get very, very restless insofar as I will literally have to go for a long walk just to stop myself from going insane. Taking a tablet when you're agitated, as you can see, does not always work.
