I need to set-up pop e-mail on someones iphone (on o2)

Apparently you have to speak with O2 before this will work, not sure how true this is.

Anyway, whats the easiest way to set-up mail on the iphone? is there a special app or a built in feature, does it use true pop mail or does it use imap?

Any help appriciated :)

Thanks

Would use the mail settings as they are if the user was using outlook? or would there be a different SMTP server (as its routing through O2's network)

Thanks

Am I Missing something here?
Got my iPhone, synced it with iTunes checking the 'sync selected mail accounts' box, Job Done.

I dont know, I do not own an iphone so of course im missing something.

Remember though some phones have a sync mail which doesnt actually let you send/recieve from the phone, it will just sync the inbox, does this sync feature within ITunes sync the whole account to allow you to send/recieve from your iphone?

Whats the difference between using itunes and by just going into mail>enter mail account settings?

Wondering if it would be best to use IMAP? as this will allow you to keep everything in sync with the mail server, as otherwise you would have to connect up the iphone to the pc each time and sync the e-mails?

IMAP = many clients can view the e-mail
POP = only one client can view the e-mail

A quick summary i know

To add a mail account to the iphone

Settings>mail contacts calendars>Add account>other

Enter your name: (just your name)
Username: (your email address)
Password: (related to your email address)
Description: (call it what you want)

Then you will save these

Next page you need to select IMAP or POP.
Then enter the following information

Incoming mail server:
Username: (e-mail address)
Password: (e-maill password)

Outgoing mail server:

Then save this info, you may need to add the smtp.o2.co.uk server to additional outgoing mail servers.
