Hi all

I assume everyone is walking and running more than usual due to lockdown and weather. I certainly am!

On my morning walk I want to catch the daily news rather than watching Sky news on TV. Iv looked on many websites but cant find a full length (30-45 mins) news podcast which covers the main headlines in UK and abroad. Sky news offers individual stories on their website but I dont want to click on a bunch of headlines. Just have one daily brief.

What do you guys listen to whilst walking other than music? And if its news, how so?

Can you not watch on YouTube most news channels stream live.

Radio 4, on one of those new fangled transistor radios.

Or if you're out when the broadcast news is on, BBC sounds with the radio headlines from earlier in the day.

Thats only good if I log on at exactly 8am sharp. And you have to keep the app open whilst walking down the road - not ideal.

Ref broadcast - as per above point. What do you mean by 'new fangled transistor radios'?

I am shocked and cant belive there is no daily news podcast in the uk!!!

I don't get you , open app, press news channel. What's wrong with keeping app open?

I was being slightly silly and suggesting that potentially the best way to get a UK news when out and about in an audio format might be the radio.
Radio 4 does news bulletins and shows, local radio may or may not do news local to you (BBC local radio is probably your best bet as "local" commercial radio these days tends to only be local for a a couple of minutes of pre-recorded weather).

Sometimes "old" is better than "new" when it comes to certain things.

BBC sounds app and Radio 4 or World Service is probably one of the best ways.

You can ‘listen from the start’ if the program is still on air when you start listening (so you won’t miss the beginning) and then programs are usually available to stream from about 10-15 minutes after they’ve ended, so there’s a very small window where you can’t listen to the whole thing.
