As title, in windows I hit windows key + L to lock the screen, on a mac the only way iv found is to set the screensaver for 1 min, and when it wakes up the screen is locked, any keyboard shortcuts like windows to lock it instantly ?

Thanks

Dunno about keyboard shortcut, but open the Keychain Access utility, go to preferences and tell it to show the keychain icon in the menu bar. That icon has a 'Lock Screen' choice in its drop-down.

Select 'Login Window' from the user menu in the top right of the menu bar.

Would be interested to hear of a keyboard shortcut for this though

I have simpler solution, I simply set bottom right of screen in expose to lock the machine.

- open up system preferences
- select expose
- Set which every corner you want to Start Screen Saver

- Or simply go to Desktop and ScreenSavers and select the Active Screen Corner option...

Both of the thing above do the same thing

Also make sure in Security you have the require password to wake this computer from sleep or screen saver option enabled

When I move away from my macbook I just move the mouse cursor to the bottom right in my case. Works like a charm ;-)

Ditto. So easy and exactly what you are looking for. I have mine as bottom left to active screen saver, you could also have it set to sleep display.

There's a little app that lets you set a keyboard shortcut to throw you to the login screen, but I can't remember its name!

I'm trying to remember it, I'll post again if I can remember. Otherwise tomorrow I can look on my mac at work for it

I had to faff a bit to get it to work - it didn't work straight away for some reason. I don't remember what I had to do, but it was simple and is mentioned in the help/readme or similar. You might not have to do it though, may have been bad luck on my part :)
