How to log GPU frequency/fps on a graph?

Every review normally has some graphs showing fps variance, or frequency change. I have an r9 290, the problem being I don't know what is going on with the frequency, or how much it is throttling if at all. Could someone point me in the direction of a (free) program which can do this? OR shed some light as to how reviewers can produce these graphs.

Thanks!

haa yes thats real strange, i've just asked someone to provide a log file.
I've noticed a lot of throttling and one member on here even has watercooling and there are inconsistant spikes yet his temps are very low.

Afterburner can do it, it can create a logile which you then import into excel.
