How to Make a Game Video?

Can anyone recommend the software required for capturing ingame video footage, editing the video and also adding text to the video file? Free would be preferred. Links to useful tutorials would be cool.

I installed a trial version of Fraps and when I tried to install the full version I kept getting errors because the trial version was conflicting even though, I deleted it.

Not sure of any free software for recording; I use Fraps, Adobe Production Studio Professional, and Macromedia Flash for making movies, weren't cheap though.

I use Virtualdub and Avisynth for compressing/touching up, and they are free.

Fraps and windows movie maker for me.

If it's an FPS vid don't paste lots of flukes, get a few longish runs of ownage.

Fraps is working OK for me now
