I'm applying for some internships next summer and have made a CV in PDF format. It comes out at 200kb and some of the companies are saying that submitted CVs have to be smaller than 150kb. Any idea how I can make it smaller?

Thanks.

This may or may not be an option for you, but could you try zipping / raring it? and sending it to them?

Might be worth seeing if the software you are using has any quality options you can turn down.

If you have to resort to compressing it, I'd definitely use .zip format. .7z (and to a lesser extent, .rar) are superior, but then you are reliant on the person at the other end knowing what to do with it.

I wouldn't send a CV compressed in any other format bar ZIP. The last thing you want is fo them to lose patience and just not bother looking at it.

r.e. zipping it, I can't send it in any format apart from .doc and .pdf, the site won't allow it.

Burnsey - I'm using the PDF tool in Word 07, and it is only a page long!

Swinnie - Looks good, I'll take a look.

Zipping etc won't work as PDFs are already compressed. Will CutePDF do a better job than Adobe?

Cut down on graphics and dont embed any fonts - also use a proper PDF tool to create the thing rather than that one in Office.
