Hi I have an old HTC Bravo. When trying to download apps from play store I get a message saying "Your device isn't compatible with this version".

The phone wifi doesn't work when connecting to a network outside of the house. For example, using GPS for maps/ navigation and browsing, despite being connected to the mobile network.

The phone was previously connected to Orange mobile. However the phone has been unlocked and is now running on 'Three mobile'. Phone call and texts work fine with the phone, however there are problems with using the internet/ GPS, etc.

Can anyine help? Is there any way to upgrade the phone/ phone software or anything else?

Thanks

The last official OTA update for the Bravo (desire) was to android 2.2 - There were big API changes between 2.2 and 2.3 so I imagine the number of apps that are available for 2.3 is significantly larger.
They did actually release a 2.3 update which could be run manually but it doesn't seem to exist any more.

Otherwise, I don't think it's too hard to root HTC phones and it would no doubt be possible to install a later version that way at (minor) risk of bricking your phone.

If you do get it updated it's still pretty old. It was good at the time (I still have mine sitting around) but things have come on a long way since then...

There's probably at least an Android 4.0 ROM for this phone but I don't know how well it would run.

The above suggestion isn't a bad idea but obviously if you can spend more you'll get a better phone. Saying that, the Moto G outperforms several 'higher-end' phones so it's a good option either way.
