How to make Hotmail the default client in Windows 7?

I know Hotmail has now been replaced by Outlook.com, that's what I meant, basically I would like to be able to click on a mailto link on a web site and have it open the web mail like Windows XP did.

What program does open when you click the link?

Follow this to reassign the default mail client. Not sure if that applies to Win8 or Win7 but it should be something similar as XP had "Set Program Access and Defaults".

Don't know if you can link to the webmail based Outlook.com, but I don't think XP could do that either. You can link to Windows Live Mail though.

Edit: Actually, I think the only way may be to do some registry tweaks to link to the webmail. Details for Yahoo and Gmail are here, but Hotmail/Outlook must be similar.
