How to make VGA the default output on a dual output motherboard?

I have an ASRock '4Core-1333 Full HD' mobo which has dual display outputs onboard - one VGA and one DVI. I'm using a crappy old monitor atm which only has VGA input - any ideas how to make the motherboard output to VGA as default?

I've looked through the BIOS using my other display which has DVI but to no avail. I do see an image on the VGA monitor, but it only flashes up for a second and then disappears.

I assume if I get to an OS via the DVI display and install the onboard display drivers I could tell it to default to VGA, but if I'm ever stuck without my DVI display and it switches back I'm up the creek.....Any ideas??!

May sound like a stupid suggestion, but do you not have any DVI- VGA adaptors lying around?

Not a stupid question at all - unfortunately the only ones I had were old ones that had those 4 extra pins around the plate, meaning they wouldn't fit into my DVI port - may just pick one up tomorrow! :)

Thekwango, I could probably do that easily, the only issue is that I don't have an OS installed yet, and also I'd rather find a BIOS/hardware fix to the issue so that, should I ever lose my OS, I can still continue with a VGA display...
