Pretty sure that is only for ale casks. You can't knock a tap into a steel keg! We need a proper keg tap because it needs to be mixed with gas as the beer comes out. We just need to know where to get the tap!

Call up a beverage distributor, one of the places that sell bulk beer to pubs and drunken college kids. They should be able to rent you a hand-operated "party tap" for a few pounds along with a refundable deposit.

Yeah there's a plastic tap you can knock in where the cork is. Turn the barrel round so the cork is at the bottom, belt the tap in and serve. If it's ale let it settle for a few hours or it might be a bit cloudy.

Former publican, and I'm being deadly serious about this. Be very careful! Although incredibly rare, there have been incidents of kegs exploding. Not the sort of explosion you see in films, but the spearhead (the bit the connector of the line goes onto) shooting out due to the pressure within the container. There was one incident a few years ago where it shot up through the ceiling, through the bar area above, through that ceiling, through some ancillary room above that, and finally emerging out in a bedroom above. In another one I've heard about, the spearhead 'uppercut' somebody on a floor above killing him instantly.

you can hire the required equipment inc. tap and gas etc, google should get some results.

And IIRC, you can buy a keg of lager, with all the bits included on a hire basis for around £115. A great idea for a party.

i didnt say that they were full tho :)

did i hear hefty scrap prices :) :)

theres about another 50-60 sitting round the back of the workshop

My mate worked at a uni bar and told me how every now and then people would nick kegs but have no idea what to do with them. They'd be found a week later with a load of dents in and all the beer still inside.

As above, they can be lethal. If you talk nicely to your local landlord he may have a party rig he could lend/hire you, whatever you do, don't go trying to hammer anything into it, or try to remove the centre piece of the barrel as it is usually at a very high pressure in there. You would usually need some gas and a pump to shift the beer, the pump would usually be attached to the keg by means of a hose/adapter and a twist-lock mechanism to secure it.
