How to open bin file (NOT for software, but data)

Okay, here is the deal. I've got a file that I need to open because it contains a string of characters that I wish to use.


Problem is its in a .bin file and looks like gibberish in text. Its only 1kb in size.

Google just throws up crap like creating a cue file eg if I was trying to get a game working.

Any ideas?

You need to get yourself a hex viewer/editor. HxD is pretty good and free. You can get it from here - http://mh-nexus.de/en/hxd/
