Hey guys got an Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 processor however when I try to increase the fsb on the processor through the motherboard bios and restart the pc refuses to change the fsb and then restarts again on the default one.

Is there something I am missing here? Or something I need to install?

I have updated the latest bios drivers for my Mobo and I have the spec listed below:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 1.86GHz Socket
Gigabyte GA-945P-S3, I945P, Socket-775,
Corsair Value S. PC5300 DDR2 2048MB(matched 1gb kit)
250gb Sata II HDD
NVidia GeForce 7900GS 512MB
Hiper Type R 580W PSU

Any help would be much appreciated

Hi jrodga2k5, have you done any overclocking before?

Yeha I have done with my Athlon 64 3800+ which was easy enough thru the motherboard bios by just increasing the fsb! Thought it would be similar here but apparently not

What FSB were you trying to set? What are the options for FSB on the Gigabyte GA-945P-S3?

I just tried settin to 267 which is just 1 above the default 266!

A bit confused with the option, anyways here's the list

CPU Host Clock Control: options Disable/Enabled (so i enabled that i assume)
CPU Host Frequency: between 100-666 so this is where I tried typing in the 267
PCI Express Frequency: didnt touch that
System Memory Multiplier, didn't bother touching that either, dont know if that has anything to do with it?
Memory Frequency: Didnt touch that either

set cpu host freq = 300
set Mem. Multiplier to 2.00

this should be stable and have your memory running at 600MHz ( instead of default 667MHz, however this time its 1:1 which is better )

also, try setting voltage control to manual and manually set CPU Voltage to 1.325 or maybe 1.35 to start off with

only thing holding you back is likely your FSB clockability due to that being a 945p chipset board. ITs recommded to get a 965 or 975 board

Agreed, jrodga2k5 in case you didnt know that motherboard is 800FSB and youll probably find that your C2D is running at 1.4Ghz instead of the stock 1.86Ghz that you would get on a 1066FSB motherboard

thanks Wayne, confirmed what i discovered :(

U need a FDD so I will be buying one today! Didnt get one for this pc, hate them! Shame it doesnt accept flash drives, get witht he times Gigabyte :D

I think an FDD and I should be OK! as their program for windows q flash or whatever only updates you to f2!
