hiya,

How do I overclock my gpu to that of a stock gtx285?

I did google and came across a utility called ntune, but alas my attempt at overclocking it nearly cost me my xp install lol.

Firstly, is my goal even a realistic one? (overclocking to a stock 285)

Secondly, I'm looking for an app that doesnt intergrate into the nvidia driver/control panel. Just because I only wanna turn the overclock on for games like say Arma 2, my other games an overclock isnt needed.

Hope I make sense!!

That app looks pretty decent.
How would an overclocked GTX260 compare to a stock GTX285 if they were similar clock speeds ?

Evga precision is certainly the easiest. Stability test with either furmark or folding@home, if you don't send off any work units.

If you decide you want the overclock 24/7 and independent of drivers and software, edit the gfx card bios using nibitor with slightly below your stable settings and flash using nvflash.

A good balance is to flash it to somewhat overclocked, and then clock it the rest of the way in software. Whether it'll hit 285 speeds or not, no idea. Too many variables.

I wish i new how they compare but this is the first nvidia card i have had in 5 years so i haven't got a clue how it compares to a 285 i would imagine it would be quite the same bar the difference in shader numbers.
But i would wait to find out from more experienced people.
That tool also has different profiles in the little drop down box that you can save and apply it makes overclocking easy just run furmark after the overclock to make sure its stable.

What about for stress testing?
I have rivatuner but need to test my OC's :D

EDIT: hmmm...
ATI Tool is saying something about a kernel driver/digitally signed drivers needed etc...
Rivatuner also didn't originally see my drivers as I'm running the W7 GTX280 drivers - So had to key them into Rivatuner manually to get it to work.
