Hi

Ive googled and searched here but there are so many different answers im more confused than when I started.

I have a drive with some files on it I dont want my kids getting access to (use your imagination :D ). I have tried hiding the folder but when you start typing in the windows search box the files pop up and can still be played.

Ideally id like to have the entire folder or drive password protected without zipping it. Id also like to avoid having multiple user accounts.

Can anyone point me in the right direction please?
Thanks
Scott

You could make user accounts for you and your children and then only give your account permission to the files or you could use bit locker to password protect your files.

To be fair tho you say you don't want multiple accounts why not? there not hard to setup and manage and would be the safest option.

They are also great for helping security if your child does something you delete the account and have the admin one intact.

There is a program i know of call "My Lockbox" that allows you to hide certain files or lock them completely from being opened or used. You have to buy the premium version or "Pro" in order to lock as many files as you like but i'm sure there are similar freeware programs like it out there.

Id like to have network access to the hdd and if I get seperate user accounts it will end up getting left logged in to kids account no doubt.
