How to pause flash ads? (make them non-animated) or block them?

Hi,

I frequently remote desktop to my pc and then use the the browser. However, the flash ads make the whole experience very slow as the ads are using the bandwidth because of the constantly changing grpahics.

Whats the easiest/best way to stop them? Is there a way to make them just display like an image (i.e. just the first frame of their animation), or whats the best way to block them? I want this to be as hassle free as possible. I dont want to keep updating block lists etc.

Can i just block all flash? or will some sites stop functioning correctly then?

If you use Firefox there are a few extensions for this very purpose ("click to load" box appears over the Flash movie, things like that).

Use Firefox with AdBlock pro extension.

Unfortunately I use Opera and IE6. Dont really like firefox or IE7.

Opera/FF > IE7 > IE6

That's what I'm trying to say. If you use IE6 use IE7. If you use IE7 use Opera or Firefox.
