I have a 100gb 4k BluRay Rip of my "wedding" but no idea how to play it.

The TVs in my house are a Samsung KS7000 and an MU6400. Ideally I'd like to find a way to access the "wedding" locally on the TV if possible.

Would something like MakeMKV work and convert to an MKV to load onto an external USB hard disk?

Thanks.

Yes. MakeMKV should turn your rip into a mkv file. What file structure is it in just now if it is not already MKV? You could then probably encode your MKV with Handbrake to further reduce the file size, but picking the correct settings so as not to degrade the picture might take some testing.

As for playback, if your TV's are hard wired, you could use a server program on your PC. I like how simple Serviio is, but then Plex has a nicer GUI, and does more of the transcoding on the PC end, if required.

I run both of these services on my PC, as my old Panasonic GT30 doesn't have Plex, and so Serviio works fine with it. Although I can use the standard Plex DLNA service with the GT30 also, I have Serviio menu's setup just how I like them.

I don't know how well 4K content will stream over Wifi if the TV's are not hard-wired. But it might work also.

These would be my preferred options over USB, mostly because I'm lazy. USB will likely be more stable overall though.

Used MakeMKV last night and loaded in the folder. Selected the film with atmos audio (wedding photographer had all the latest tech) which created the .mkv on my portable usb drive.
The TV played it no trouble :-) Pleasantly surprised.
