Hi all

Ok i have no problem playing ANYTHING in VLC or MPC but i cant seem to get my blu-ray files working. They are .ts files. I assume they are supported with both players as they normally play anything you throw at them but it doesnt seem to work for me?

MPC doesnt even open the file and VLC starts playing it but it goes all stuttery and mashed after about 2 seconds!

Any ideas?

going by the spec in your sig i think you'll need at least a dual core 3800+ and/or a decent graphics card that can do most of the decoding

Also not sure if them files will even work in VLC etc, but powerDVD 7 ultra and now 8 ultra support BD and should play them

I couldn't get VLC or MPC to play HD DVD files at all so I'd imagine that Blu-Ray files would be the same

Your CPU will struggle with Hi Def stuff though. You'll need the Nero HD DVD/Blu-Ray addon, WinDVD 9 Plus or PowerDVD 8 Ultra to play them as stated above.

If (like me) you don't have an HDCP compliant monitor (or graphics card) then you'll also need something like AnyDVD or they won't play at all (I just got a blank screen!)

Good luck! :)

My spec in sig is wrong, i have 2gb memory and a quad core intel chip one of those 6600's.

So i jest need PowerDVD 7 Ultra or 8 then?

I dont know what you mean by HDCP compliant monitor ajgoodfellow but my hd files play fine in vlc and mpc its just the blu-ray files that dont. I have a 7900GT and a 20.1" Dell TFT.

Sorry about the late reply!

Yep (or WinDVD if you prefer)

HDCP is a new copy protection system - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDCP - for HD media

You need to have an HDCP complaint graphics card (which I think the 7900GT is) and an HDCP compliant monitor (which yours might be depending on its age). It'll say whether it's compliant or not in the manufacturer's specifications

If it isn't then you'll just get a black screen when you try to play a BluRay disc - if this is the case then you'll need to get AnyDVD to play the disc

I got AnyDVD and powerdvd 7 ultra and its still not working. All i get is a blank black screen like its playing but not playing of you get what i mean.

Any ideas? I have told Anydvd in the settings to unlock blu-ray so it should work i assume.
