How to plug into a UPS?

You can pick up kettle lead to kettle lead cables for a few pounds. A female end is a C13 (typically the plug end), male is C14 (the kettle socket).

You may find the ups comes with some cables to get you going. From memory they usually come with a c13-c14 cable which you are supposed to use to connect the pc to the ups... You then use the redundant cable that you used for pc to mains to power the ups.

For low power peripherals like switches, routers, WAPS etc that have power bricks or adaptors, I buy a four way extension and a wirable C14 plug - then cut off the mains plug from the four way and wire in the c14. I then plug this into the rear of the Ups and then plug the peripherals into the four way.

Ah right thanks. I was wondering how to plug low powered devices that use power bricks. I found this (APC SC1500I) on an auction site for a good price, only has 4 plugs but i think that should cover me. the newer APC BR1500GI looks more flash with an LCD screen though!

Home brew answer is to chop the 3 pin UK plug off the end of a 4 way mains extension and put a C14 connector (£2 to £3) on it to fit the UPS.
