Hello all, been looking at the posts in here for several months about new pcs and so thought it might be worth considering trying to build a new pc for myself! So where do you start?
It will basically be something that will take several months, just buying parts when i can, so whats the first thing to start with and what excately do you need for a new pc?? Just want it for playing games mostly, internet browsing, watching videos and listening to music!
Got a monitor, keyboard, mouse, so its just the hardware and any software that goes with it, will be getting windows 7.
Would appreciate any help with this,

Thanks!

Hi there,

If your building it gradually then i would suggest getting the case and motherboard first. Thats the hardest part IMO.

Then get the RAM, HDD, CPU and PSU. If the motherboard has integrated graphics then you can always use that ( even though it probably wont run any games ) untill you upgrade.

Definitely read the sticky regarding system builds to give you information on how to build and what's required
As for the step by step and taking several months, I would actually not do it this way unless you can get a basic system up straight away and then add more expensive parts later ( like a decent Graphics card ). If you can only afford a few components now, and then 2 months from now buy the remaining parts you could just as well save the money and buy everything in one go, cost of components in the majority of cases goes down over time so you could even afford something better
