I have an unlocked Huawei E160 USB Modem that I want to use with an iPhone PAYG SIM I bought off eBay. To get the iPhone SIM and E160 to work together I have to 'register' the iPhone SIM. I don't have an iPhone and possibly don't even know someone who has one .

How can I register the iPhone SIM to get free WiFi/3g? What's the process on the iPhone? Do I ust pop it in and hand over some card details? Maybe I could pop into somewhere like carphone warehouse and see if I could get them to do it? or someone down the local market .
If I do use a friends iPhone to register my PAYG SIM on their iPhone and I later get caught for breaking T&Ts will my friend get his iPhone blocked or something?

I'm pretty sure if it wasn't used for a certain amount of time, maybe 3 months it gets cancelled all together and the number gets reallocated. But failing this i'm sure you can do it on the website www.o2.co.uk

just give o2 a ring and they should activate it for you. Thats all I did when I got one for a new work phone. I had to do it this way ratehr than just plug the iPhone into iTunes because my boss forgot to ask for the sims when he ordered the phones. I popped into a o2 shop, asked for iPhone sim, called the number, job done.

Oh, found this on another forum;

Have a look on Ebay, there are dealers selling PAYG iPhone sims from £2.99, buy one, put it in your iPhone and add a £10 top-up and you get the 12 month web/wifi add-on within 24 hours. From personal experience it works without a problem, and without any more monthly top-ups (of course you do still need to top up for credit for calls and texts).

Seems I may also be able to do it by simply putting it into a phone and making a call. Need an unlocked phone to try this now ...

Edit: Found one!!! can I use a 'top-up voucher' or do I have to use my credit/debit card?
