how to remove a program and all its footprints

how do you uninstall/remove a program and ALL its footprints etc?
ive been playing around with different media center alternatives, when i unistall it as i dont like or get on with the program/features then go into program files its still something showing .

how can i remove every teenie tiny speck of the program.

You won't like my answer:

1. make image of your os drive
2. install, play about, determine desired config
3. write image back

Or, simply use something like Ashampoo Uninstaller, which makes a snapshot prior to installation and then compares after. Payware though.

Revo Uninstaller is a freeware alternative.

Uninstall as normal then run crap cleaner (including registry clean)
Thats what I do & it seems good enough!

You'll probably still need to run regedit as well and search for any components in there.

I discovered Revo a few years ago and haven't looked elsewhere since. One of my essential bits of software I have on all my PC's.

tried ccleaner and its good for the most part, gillywibble is right you still need ot run regedit.
but why does it still leave traces or left over folders?
i will give revo a try as im still playing with alternative media centers.

Uninstall then scour the registry. Always works for me
