Hey guys,

Just bought myself COD4 and its amazing, really enjoying it. But one of my pet-hates is playing an FPS with a music soundtrack

I wanna play COD4 without any music.

Now I could swear I've pored over the in-game options but all I see is a master-volume controller. I was hoping for a seperate slider for music volume. In other FPS games that have it I just set that one to zero.

I then had a look at the files in the COD4 folder, found all the game videos but no music files.

Would really appreciate your help OverClockers :D

Thanx :)

Go to C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare(or where ever it is installed) and rename the folder 'miles' to 'dismiles'

How odd...I can understand in some games music or background ambience noise can be tooo loud sometimes...But I never had an issue with COD4

Call Of Duty has some absolutely amazing background music which really makes you feel like you're playing a movie - which is exactly what CoD4 aims for - and does very, very well!

Removing such a well-placed part of the feel of the game means you're going to miss out on much of the experience.

That worked PERFECTLY! Thanks dude :)

@ Delvis, Confused & Devil - no arguments with the quality of COD4 but I've always hated playing shooters with music! I love FPS games and while we are all just wannabe spec-ops soldiers in these games a *tiny* way to make it a *little* more realistic is to play without music....at least thats the way I see it :)

Somehow dressed as an SAS dude kicking a door down while a Van Damme-style movie soundtrack is goin on in the back takes all the enjoyment out for me.

Fair enough :)

For MP I can understand, but I found it so engrossing in SP that I think I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much without the soundtrack (not that I really noticed it, it's that good/relevent!)

Fair enough

I see what youre saying mate and I cannot deny that COD4 *does* provide a very good movie-like experience with the music soundtrack. Perhaps once I finish the game and have another go I will let the music play lol.

I have to say that so far its the best looking FPS thats been on my PC..the weapons especially look, sound and feel just right!

Right Im off to be an armchair Rambo
