How To Remove Gaffa Tape ?

Hello Thar,

I've got an arcylic Fish Tank/Vivarium from a while ago.

The previous owner decided to put gaffa tape around the top and bottom of the tank to create a border. Now its been on there a long time as it won't peel off very easy !

Gettting the actual balck tape of is easy but removing the glue left behind afterwards is impossible to me.

So any ideas on how i can remove it ?

I've boiled the kettle and poured that over it and scrubbed to no avail so please help me

Or lighter fluid and elbow grease

Anything solvent based should do it, just be careful not to use anything too nasty on it if it's acrylic.

I should try the citrus based stuff first if you're worried about chemical damage.

just heat it up with a hair dryer, peel and then remove the gunk with a chemical.

Could he use 1,3,5-Triazido-2,4,6-trinitrobenzene

White/metholated spirits will be the easiest. That stuff is designed to do it. In fact just the strong smell you get when you open the bottle is theoretically enough to do it!
