Long story short, I put Rain-X on my windscreen thinking it would help, basically, It's worse than ever.

Ever wipe of the wipers just leaves a haze on the screen. Probably my fault, not applying it properly or whatever.

But how do I get this **** off? This is how I imagine Stevie Wonder drives! It's horrible!

From the Rain X website . . . "Rain‑X® Extreme Clean is the best product to use to remove Rain‑X® from a glass surface."

After the experience with this insidious liquid, i wish to avoid their products.

Warm water & vinegar & use a newspaper as the cloth.

also,

inb4Sand Paper as I've seen mentioned on my internet searches.

Fairy Liquid?

Already tried that! with multiple washes, mild sponge attacks and letting it dwell. As well as blasting the bejesus out of the shield with a pressure washer.and trying AutoGlym Fast glass.

I'm old mate & back in the dark ages the best thing in the world to clean glass with was warm water & vinegar & use a newspaper as the cloth, Still works today & is great to clean your windscreen & wiper blades with.
Bonus is it's cheap & you have all 3 items already.

Guess its worth a go! The internet seems to agree with you.

Looks like I'm making my windscreen small vinegary. I tried cleaning the wipers as well. THis better not be them ****ed because of the Rain-X, i only put them on yesterday!

Right, I'm going to go wild and attack my windscreen tonight. That **** has to come off! Was pretty much blind this morning driving to work!

Order of attack...

Vingear and Newspaper

Window/Glass Cleaner

Some of this -

it can also be used to effectively remove rain repellent glass treatments without scratching the surface.

Although it is abrasive so I need to be careful.

Sandpaper

Hammer

Right, I've attacked it with vinigear/water/newspaper and then clay bar'd the windscreen. Both suggestions from here. Water does seem to run as if the RAin-X isn't there, but I can still see some swirl type patterns on the screen. Main test will be tomorrow morning I guess.

If this hasn't worked. Gonna go and get some of that Halfords cleaner.

I think after this hell, I'm going to avoid all sorts of treatments on the windscreen. Mine wasn't even that bad before Rain-X. I just thought it would make it a bit better.

Morning update. The vinegar hasn't worked! Still awful. Just going to have to bite the bullet, buy some of that glass cutter from halfords, and maybe get some new wipers whilst I'm at it

Nail polish remover almost always has additives such as perfume and oils chucked in it. Pure Acetone has none of that and should clean a windscreen no matter what its had applied to it. I'd suggest applying it with one of these to begin with ( just to clarify - it isn't a 'Brillo' pad  ):-

Surely it won't be that expensive will it? Guess its worth a try.

Did you clean the wipers with vinegar aswell, I always found fairy to pretty much remove anything waxy.

Vinegar and newspaper has always worked for me, so its surprising it hasnt for you :(

Yep, cleaned the wipers with vinegar as well. Ended up using ney-on pure vinegar on the windows/wipers. Still not off.

So I've still got Acetone & Intensive Glass Cutter to try.

Bet you it'll be your wipers that are crap. I had the exact same thing a few months ago, and i was conivinced it was this new wash and wax i had used. After doing what you have been doing, i changed my wipers and it was perfect. Just FYI, ecp are doing 25% off wipers. Got a set a set of Valeo Silencio's for my gf for about £9!

For the record, Rain X is fantastic.

Fitted brand new Bosch AeroTwin wipers on Monday. Doubt its due to the fact that they're knackered already. Well, I bloody well hope not. I can't afford 20quid for decent wipers every week.

its the wipers, they will have picked up the rainx too. are you proper giving them a scrub?

Yep, picking up some Acetone tonight, so will brutally attack the wipers as well.

thing is, I can still see the swirls in the condensation first thing in the morning where I applied the Rain-X on the screen, so there must still be something on there.

Might just bite the bullet and buy some new wipers as well.
