I purchased a EK full face water blook for my 8800gts (leadtek), but I can't take the stock cooler off! Anyone got any steps or a link for instructions please.

Thanks.

Thanks m8. I was going to use the mrs nail polish remover lol.

there are so many screws. I took off the 15 or so from the back, do i need to undo the screws around the sides and front also? Bit scary this, one false move bang goes a 230 quid gfx card!

I don't know if the gts is the same...But i had to undo two screws which went to the PCI bracket on my gtx (One screw each side of the slotted vents on the PCI bracket)..

Just got my EVGA GTS cooler out of the box to have a look for you.

There are 8 large silver screws with springs on the bottom that need to be removed and two on the pci backplate (2 black ones at either end). It should then come off. There is a lot of TIM on the cores of these cards so it will need a good cleaning.

You will not be dissappointed with the EK block. I have the same block and it is superb. Highest temp i have seen is 41 degrees under a torture test. Normally it is at 37 degrees when playing Oblivion, GTR2 etc. Looks good too.

Thanks m8, what about the small screws near the screws with springs? They look like they surround the main core.

They do but it's for a big plate thingy that is seperate from the main heatsink. This one here 3rd and 4th pictures down. I think it's to protect the core so i left mine on. The block clears it anyway and it does'nt seem to have hurt my temps. The core is absolutely huge by the way.

thanks for your help guys, finally managed to do it. Took off only the 8 spinged screws and the 2 black screws on the pci bracket. Then it just needed a little wiggling while pulling off.

Just a case of not applying too much force when pulling the cooler off.

The system is just leak testing now for 24hours.

I will post some pics in my other thread here:

Thanks.

I never do this myself....

I myself think if it going to leak, then it's going to mainly leak right from the start....

Plus : i would never be able to use my PC if i did this,as am always stripping my PC and playing around with it...
