how to remove thermalpaste?

i have no problem wiping it off with a tissue or cloth.. i think my temps are pretty damn good, maybe you should try it lmao

That's only marginally better than leaving it on and re-using it.

I always use cd cleaning fluid, which contains isopropyl alcohol and evaporates without leaving a residue.

Because WD40 is a grease and will leave a residue, which reduces the effectiveness of the next lot of paste you use. Effectively you may as well have just wiped the old lot off as the effect is the same.

well, just smitched on my pc - installed COOLERMASTER HYPER Z600 (PASSIVE)
and what do you think?

temperature in CORE TEMP shows TOTALLY THE SAME!

now i O/C'ed E8500 to 3.8ghz it says (50c)

BUT...

while i was playing with Bios, on stovk 3.1ghz it was 25C, i did Restart couple of times to check temp in bios and it was only 25C max,

after O/C 32C ...

so what do you think?
is it just my CORE TEMP not responding?

I just use nail polish remover lol, its Acetone anyway so all good.

usually it will take some time before temps settle when you applied new grease. if it doesnt gradually settle down then that cooler does not do a great job would have seen much lower with a noctua

well, i Overcklocked E8500 to 4ghz now!

Core temp showing 48C!
i run bennchmarks, now browsing websites and Skype...it's 48C

4ghz is a big overclock so that doesn't sound unreasonable temp. you can run orthos or some benchmark programs to strss it and see if stable, you can also monitor the temps at full load. as long as you don't pass the 60-70 range you are fine. aobove and i would lower temps or get better cooling

i did on stock cooler 4.2 ghz, but yep did hit 65c

than i've desided to wait till i get new cooler

but yeh its much quicker with some cleaning fluid.. depends how much you clean your cpu lol

ive tried both ways and no noticeable difference appart from one takes 5mins longer.. if that saves me a fiver, sweet

Nail polish remover is not recommended because it isnt just pure Acetone and as such will leave a residue.

Pop down to a chemist and buy a little bottle of Isopropanol (surgical spirit). Cheap, leaves no residue, cleans like a charm.
