Hi all,

Is it possible to download extra PARs for a broken newsgroup download and get the Linux version of Sabnzbd to use these PARs to repair a failed download please? If so, how would I go about it?

In the past I've transferred everything to my Windows box and done it using "quickpar" but that seems a "ham fisted" way of doing it.

Quickpar works fine under Wine.

Alternatively you can use PyPar2 which is a nice frontend for the linux app par2 which does all the hard work.

EDIT - Thinking about it - I don't know why you are having this issue in the first place as sabnzb handles the par work on its on. Whe you are getting an NZB you need to select the par files alongside the rest. Sabnzb will download the par files only if they are needed to extract. This all happens automaticly. I think you will find this problem disappears if you download files with par files included (but are only downloaded if needed).

I must admit this is an odd situation this time. I downloaded an NZB but found an extra for "PARs repost for downloadname" so I downloaded that too. I think I now need to fathom how to extract the PARs from the additional download, then use them to repair the original download.

Your package manager should have installed the par2 cli app with Sab as it's a recommended dependency, you should just be able to use that.
