If I sleep or hibernate my laptop (which is most of the time) when I log back in I get an error message saying that my scanning service has stopped working unexpectedly which obviously means I can no longer use my scanner and have to restart but its a bit of a pain having to do it while Im in the middle of the day so was wondering if there is a way I couild manually restart the service?

When the error occurs if you look at the details it says the file that has stopped working is Scan2PC.exe but when I have searched for Scan2PC.exe it returns with no results. I have had a look at services.msc but its not there either. Am I missing something or is there somewhere else the service could be?

Thanks

Scan2PC -- isn't that the application used for a portable scanner that runs when you want it to dump pics directly to the PC rather than store on the scanner itself? If so, the app is in a folder on the scanner.

The service display name is unlikely to be scan2pc.exe. Services generally have a user friendly display name ( Eg Print Spooler ), but when you double clikc the service it will show you the path to executable ( c:\windows\system32\spoolsv.exe )
In your case your best bet would be to check services after it has crashed, sort according to startup type and check for any automatic ones not started and it's bound to be there and hopefully you should only have that one linked to scan2pc.exe
