So we're doing a little renovating and when taking up the carpets have found this

Problem is it's covered in layers of glue from where the carpet has been layed. Does anyone have any recommendations of how i could go about cleaning this up? I've tried a good scrub and a heat gun but it's not having a great deal of joy.

It's in a hallway, it doesn't have joins (So not slabs).

It's all part of a renovation for work (We're a graphic design & Print company) We work out of an old cottage, it was always a temporary place to work from for us, but we've decided to stay here for a few more years so have decided to make a few changes. We still want to keep that old feel to it, whilst giving it a makeover.

Quick update, had a little go ealier today using white spirits and some fine sand paper and a bit of elbow grease

Here's the start

Still some tough patched of glue to get rid of, but a bit more work and

Pretty please with the results, did find the glue would turn to a paste and then it was difficult to get off, Tomorrow I'm going to try and use a scrapper instead, I think it may be easier.

Got some sealant arriving tomorrow to apply once its finished.

Thanks for the advice given, was a big help!!
