So guys. 'Upgraded' to Mavericks. Would now like to go back to ML. How do i do this on a 2013 macbook air given that i don't have the ML disc as didn't come with my air?

Do I need to go and buy the ML disc from Apple? Cheers people:D

There is no ML disc. Officially it was App Store only. That said it's possible to create a USB key from the dmg in the App Store package.

The Internet Recovery built into the Macs EFI should let you recover it.

It's not a purchase tagged to your account, it's tagged to the serial number of the MacBook.

As I said before - try internet recovery.

I've just bought a new rMBP and both Lion and Mountain Lion show up in my purchased history, which means it must be attached to the account?

Plus I also remember other forum-ers upgrading all their Macs with Mountain Lion when it was released (using a single purchase - suggesting it is account linked)

*I might be wrong though :p
** I might have the wrong end of the stick :p

When I bought my MBP two years ago it added iLife 09 to my App Store account (and told me it was doing so). Lion was only accessible on that machine, didn't show on my Mac mini.

It may have changed with Mountain Lion. Mavericks is free, so it doesn't really matter.

So quick update. None of the mentioned methods worked. Mountain Lion did not show up in purchase history, however Mavericks was!
Anyway, eventually took it to Apple sotre with a genius appointment and within 6 minutes i had a fresh install of Mountain Lion on my air again. Aaaaah, back to normal

Anyways, the technician did mention that the next time, the way to do it is to download the recovery disk assistant tool from apple if i have the same porblem. I will probably just create a recovery USB incase i ever 'upgrade' to mavericks again

I still can't see what is fundamentally wrong with Mavericks over Mountain Lion. If anything, they fixed a lot of issues from both Lion and ML and in some ways how those 2 versions should have been from the start.
