How to roll back from Firefox 3?

I installed Firefox 3 this morning, but I really hate it. I want my address bar to work the way it did before, and I can't find a working unobtrusive mouse gestures addon. Can anyone tell me the easiest way to get my old version back without losing my history and bookmarks?

Creating a new profile and copying the bookmarks.html and history.dat from your old profile should work, but it'll only have the data up to you using Fx3.
Alternatively, you can export the bookmarks though Fx3 to an HTML file then import them, but not the history.

What's so different about the address bar, swapped from 2 to 3 and apart from the back and forward buttons being different the rest to me looks the same?

It searches the whole URL and page title as well as your bookmarks (see here), rather than only from the start of URLs you've typed in. You can change a lot of that behaviour though.

I thought that was a good feature and was one of the reasons for me moving to FF3 :)

FF3 totally died on me this morning, and all I did was toggle the Tor button. Subsequent restarts resulted in a buttonless page with some cryptic chrome error.

So I uninstalled ( set to delete all settings) and reinstalled. Same error.

I backed up my bookmarks and reverted to FF2.

For future reference, how does one deal with such errors? I thought that a complete uninstall would wipe all trace, but I was wrong.
