in windows its simple - add a shortcut to the start up folder

how do i do it in fedora?

i need an open browser session on the linux pc to run amahi webvnc, but don't have easy physical access to the linux pc.

i have autologon working fine but don't know how to configure firefox to load automatically after startup

any (simple) ideas?

Easy way would be to add it to you DE/WM startup program list. Not sure what your running so I can't advise how you would go about doing this.

Alternatively just add Firefox & to you .xinitrc file and that should work just as well. ( If a .xinitrc doesn't exist in your home directory just create one )

System > Preferences > Sessions then click the start-up tab and define your application.

Sounds like you want almost a kiosk style presentation. There are distros out there which aim to do the whole kiosk approach out of the box and lock everything else down.

thanks all
will try the above

steep learning curve this linux business - tried to add a new disc and ended up not being able to boot and had to learn how to use 'vi' to edit etc/fstab/.........
all working now though :)
