How to save an iphone backup from itunes

Hi guys,

Im restoring my mac to factory settings and want to know how an iphone backup can be saved because all my stuff from my iphone will get deleted wont it once I put it in once the restore has done because it will think its a new computer?

Could be wrong... lol
 
Not sure how it works on a Mac but under windows it's just a case of backing up the iTunes folder which is typically stored under My Music/Music Library. If you actually want a copy of the iPhone backup files then you have to copy the folder under %APPDATA%\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup

I only backup the iTunes folder as I trust nothing horrible is going to happen to my phone in the time it takes me to reinstall the OS. As soon as I install iTunes on the new system I sync my iPhone to get a fresh backup on the system which creates that backup folder under %APPDATA% for me.

Ahhh ok then mate, but unfortunately Im using a mac :)
