How to scan for viruses on a NAS

Which antivirus software, preferably free, has NAS scanning?

If your PC has the drives mapped to the NAS then you can scan them as network drives on most AV's.

If the NAS runs a BSD-derived distro, as most do, it's pretty much redundant to be scanning it for malware. Unless you've a ton of 'downloads' on there that you are worried might infect a Windows PC at some stage?
