Good Morning All,

Just a quick question. My grandparents as a hobby do tapestry, they have a load of mid/large size prints completed to a very high quality.

They are wanting to sell / get rid to make money. Apart from the obvious of carboot / ebay, does anyone know if there are actually any companies / people out there who may be interested in urchasing?

Thanks

Do they have murals on or just patterned? Perhaps an independant furniture shop would be interested in them

I am about to complete a tapestry I started in 2000. It is about six foot by two foot and depicts a poppy field. Approximately 300,000 stiches. I would never sell it as it has been such a labour of love, but for the hours involved it would have to be a substantial sum to make it worthwhile. The wife will be getting it for her birthday.

Pic's? I assume she knows she's getting it unless you've been very secretive as to what you've been doing in that back room for the past ten years

www.etsy.com

Most established crafting site you'll find. Lots of private sellers, wife sells quite a bit in her little shop and she's never had a problem with a customer, unlike ebay! I'd highly recommend it, can make a fair bit of money :)

Also a good place to find your wife/gf a present, although some of it is just stupidly priced.

I will get pics up in a couple of weeks when it's done. I don't think she has any idea it is nearly finished so will hopefully go down quite well. Also saves me buying something.

Lol, I can imagine how that conversation might go: "Oh it's a tapestry! I just thought you'd been in the back room masturbating for 2 hours a night for the past ten years!."

:D

How about specialist auctions? Im sure if you contact auction houses they will be able to advise you of days when tapestry enthusiasts congregate and therefore you are more likely to get a better price.

edit: or insure them for 1 miiillioonnn pounds each and light a match ;)

Cheers guys, forgot I had posted this question! I was expecting no replies, will try and dig them out and take pics.

They are all picture types, i.e. of scenes or landscapes.

As promised, here is my completed poppy field tapestry, just in time for the wife's birthday.

Apologies for size of images.

I was going to suggest Etsy as well.

Do you mean tapestry or cross-stitch?

You may try approaching local crossstitch/art shops as they may be interested. If I was to sell the stuff I had done I doubt that I would make more than 10p an hour on a large job :D
