I have jsut renewed my orange contract and being sent a new shiny phone.

I won't use half the gadgets on the new one so hope to use my current phone and sell the new one. Am I right in saying that I will need to use the new sim and put it in my old phone, because the old sim will be terminated?

Is there anyway around this as I would like to sell the new phone as a complete package..

First of all i think your breaking your networks T&C's so i wouldnt really recommend doing that as if they find out they will terminate your account and possibly bar the phones.

As for your old sim, if they are sending out a new sim then yes the old one will be taken off line.

The phone is legally yours and you can do with it as you please (I'm currently selling a SE K800i for the same reason).

However, you'll need to keep the new SIM card and put it in your old phone. If you want to sell it as a complete package then you'll need to buy an Orange PAYG SIM to bundle with the phone.

Thanks mate. That is a very helpful answer.

As an aside I cannot believe the prices these phones go for at auction. Both my wife and I upgraded yesterday and have 2 nokia n80's on route. As we only text and make calls we won't make use of the new phones - that's a potential £400 from an auction site.
