How to sell stocks and shares

My Dad passed away recently and this has left my mum with a cashflow problem while we sort out probate etc and sell their business

However, he had various shares in both mine and my mum's names in various companies.

He handles all of this but it would help matters if we could sell these (we have the certs.)

How do you go about selling them? Neither of us have trading accounts etc.

If it's all share certificates then you'll need a broker, can't think of any listed firms that bother with paper anymore. Halifax offer a service, but there may be more competitive rates out there: http://www.halifax.co.uk/sharedealing/getting-started/how-to-sell-shares/

most banks will do some sort of share trading, speak to yours

i went through halifax personally, but then i bank with them
