How to send a file, PC to PC

Hi lads and ladies,

I was just wondering how can i send a file from another computer in my house to my computer.

We are both connected up to a router and i used to use limewire when sending files to other computers but for some reason it doesnt work anymore...

Is there a programme to download that i can do this with that i may have overlooked?

erm, you on XP or Vista?

you can just use MSN if you can't be bothered waiting, but windows can do it natively.

Make sure both computers are on the same workgroup.
Then enable file sharing.
Then assign and map network drive letters.
And then you can access the other machines drive as you would a drive on your own machine.

find out or change the computername to something sensible -like pc1 pc2 or something else, like office, home..

now on one of the pc's, create a folder on c:\ call it say "shared"

now right click the folder, sharing, -share the folder etc

go to the 2nd pc, click start, run, now type

\\office

^replace 'office' with the computername of the first pc

*to change computername, go to system properties, computername, change

I have a external HDD that has just gone faulty, I ended up using msn as it was good enough for what i needed it for.

why do that when there's a much simpler method which doesn't even involve standing up. so long as your network is set up properly.
