I have a Shuttle sitting under my TV which acts as media server running Windows 7 and XBMC. This outputs audio and video via HDMI to my amp whith i can then obviously watch on my TV and hear through the 5.1.
My amp and TV are both happy at 1920x1080 but when the amp gets switched off and I VNC onto the server it has set to a lower resolution (1600:900). That in turn means that when I turn the amp back on after a few hours I am having a few display issues.
If I set XBMC to run windowed full screen, it'll come back up at 1600:900 in the top right of my 1920x1080 screen. If I set it to run full screen not windowed it'll come back black.
The machine is still running fine in every other respect and all the power saving/screen saver settings have been set correctly.
So the question is, how can I set my machine up to only ever display 1920x1080 and never anything else? It seems odd that with no display connected it only allows me to go up to 1600:900
